Okay, I am able to fix most of the problems on my computer just by using this forum or just plain experience. This one has me stumped.
My Windows 7 laptop will just randomly freeze up, I can't even get to Task Manager. So I hold the power button down to shut it off then it will take 5+ minutes to reboot. Most of the time it is after I have put my password in. The welcome page takes at least 2-3 minutes.

I have turned off all of my add-ons on Firefox. I have ran Malwarebyte's with no results. I have ran my anti-virus with no results. I have even gone into the F8 menu and run the "repair your computer" option. Nothing shows up as being wrong when I use the option to fix start up problems. I have reinstalled Firefox. I have deleted multiple unused programs. I have even gotten in the "event viewer" and examined the events. It list that there are multiple files that are causing the slow boot but they are never the same file. I have checked all of my driver's nothing is flagged and all of the USB drivers are up to date.

The computer will run just fine for many hours and them Bam....freeze up. Everything is not responding. I can't even "end task" on the firefox no matter how long I wait.

Try running the computer in safemode with networking. Check if there is still a persistent freezing problem. Also monitor your hardware temperature for any possible overheating.http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html . I would also suggest running the Dell diagnostic utility(If available) on your hard drive and memory sticks to check on their status. A start-up repair is also an option.

Okay, well thanks. I have done the start up repair, I have run it in safe mood with networking, like I said the computer can run fine for hours. I don't have the dell diagnostics available. I am just out of options i guess other than doing an OS re-install.

Perhaps you would need a Linux bootable disc to test the hard drive. I will ask for some guidelines on how to download, burn and use the created ISO disc. In the meantime, try using a stick of RAM module alternately to check on your freezing problem. They could also cause lockup or hanging the OS. This tends to be a hardware problem. If you believe that your computer hangs also while on the internet, please try testing the PC offline.
