Hi Guys,

If someone could examine my HT log

When running Task Manager, I noticed a process called System.exe. Yet I have tried to do a search for this and have not been able to locate it on my computer. Is this a worm/virus/trojan? From other literature I've read, it seems to be. I've run Ad-Aware, Ewido, Spybot, CrapCleaner, Stinger and AVG and none have picked up this file. Am I getting worried about nothing?!?

Any opinions are much appreciated.

Hello GlennyBabes and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I do not see any problems with viruses or malware in the HijackThis log. It is clean.

If you are looking in TaskManager and seeing a process called System, that is normal. The System process is used by the operating system kernal to perform a number of background processes. There is no file named system.exe which relates to this process and it will be present on every Windows operating system. If there was a file named system.exe that you found then that could potentially be malicious and it would show up in TaskManager as system.exe and not just system.

System speed is based on perception. My system takes about 5 minutes to completely boot up. I do not think that as slow but some might. If you have any concerns regarding the bootup then I sould suggest posting a qusetion in the XP forum and they could look at the configuration and possibly makes some suggestions to alter some of the startup items.

As far as the HijackThis log goes, you are good to go.

Cheers.
