When I try to bring up google search or youtube i get:

Domínio www.youtube.com BLOQUEADO.

Contate imediatamente seu provedor de hospedagem de sites.

I have no idea why it's all in spanish, avast and malwarebytes show no viruses or malware, and my computer whiz uncle has no idea what's going on. I've tried it in both Google Chrome and IE.

Any ideas in "for dummy's" speak would be greatly appreciated. What I don't know about computers could fill an encyclopedia.

It's Portuguese. Can you think of anything that you or the computer did right before this started happening? Hardware or software install, uninstall, update, malware, etc?

Are you using any sort of chrome extension that has site-blocking ability?

Type 'internet options' into the start menu and then click on it when it shows up in the results. In the security tab, click 'restricted sites' and then the 'sites' button underneath it. Do you have any sites listed there?

If possible, I'd like to see a screenshot of this error as well. Instructions

If it looks like I know what I'm doing, there's a pretty good chance the only reason for that is because
I once asked someone to run chkdsk /r and a BC Advisor smacked me in the back of the head.

Portuguese? That makes even less sense than it being in Spanish.

No updates or downloads before it started, nothing in the restricted sites. No Chrome extensions are installed.

Thanks for the instructions, by the way. I had no idea how to take a screenshot.

Please download MiniToolBox and run it.

Checkmark following boxes:
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click Go and post the result.

Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop.

* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

=============================================================================

Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it on the computer with the issue.
  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center
    • Windows Update
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

If it looks like I know what I'm doing, there's a pretty good chance the only reason for that is because
I once asked someone to run chkdsk /r and a BC Advisor smacked me in the back of the head.

What sort of network are you connected to?

I see that you are using Cisco's wireless security programs and that your router's ip address is different than home router settings.

Is it only Google and Youtube that have this message, or do other sites as well?

Is there any difference between http://www.youtube.com and https://www.youtube.com ?

If it looks like I know what I'm doing, there's a pretty good chance the only reason for that is because
I once asked someone to run chkdsk /r and a BC Advisor smacked me in the back of the head.

One quick thing I'd like you to try:

  • Type "view network" into the Start Menu. Click on View network connections in the search results.
  • Locate the icon indicating your wireless connection and right-click. Select Properties.
  • In the list box, double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  • At the bottom on the dialog box, select the Use the following DNS server addresses radio button.
  • For the Preferred DNS server, type in 8.8.8.8
  • For the Alternate DNS server, type in 8.8.4.4
  • Click OK to close that box and click OK again on the other opened dialog box.

Restart your browser and attempt to go to google and youtube again.

Using https works! Thank you so much!

Um... why does adding an "s" make it work? Just curious.

https is an encrypted and authenticated version of http. It makes sure that 'youtube.com' is the genuine 'youtube.com'. It also makes the browser use a different numerical 'address' (called a port) to communicate.

If you could, please answer the other questions I asked. Something is redirecting your regular google and youtube traffic to prevent access. I'm going to see if I can bring in a helper who might be able to provide more help.

I'll have to check with my uncle. He set all this up and while he did explain it all he kept slipping into techno-babble to do it and most of it shot straight over my head.

It's only youtube and google that were blocked.
