Hi,

I'm stuck at the very beginning of this process. I know it said not to post logs of things, but I didn't know whether that rule applied to backing up your files.

Cobian 10 for Windows 7 keeps running into an error that shuts it down. I made up a drive Z:\ and then I tried to run it on a drive J:\

And it looks like I posted the same question twice, sorry. Firefox hung up when I tried to post it the first time and I didn't think it had gone through. I switched to Chrome and am not having problems now.

If Chrome would let me put the menu bar up there, I'd use it more often. =)

I removed the other duplicate post, and moved this into the Windows7 Forum, where help might be more forthcoming.
Cheers,
John

If it looks like I know what I'm doing, there's a pretty good chance the only reason for that is because
I once asked someone to run chkdsk /r and a BC Advisor smacked me in the back of the head.

Thank you. Cobian was running as an application and I started it with administrator privileges. There is a box under Tools, then Options, to "Automatically convert to UNC paths," which was already selected, but I tried \\server\J:\ anyway. I also started a program to wake up the server, just in case.

I tried it again using J:\ to see if starting a program first was what the problem was. Apparently it wasn't. I got the same error:

ERR 2012-01-14 05:18 An error occurred when creating or refreshing the archive "J:\C 2012-01-14 05;13;14.zip": Cannot create file "\\?\J:\C 2012-01-14 05;13;14.zip". The system cannot find the path specified

I'll try asking in the forum on the Cobian site. Thank you for the pointers.
