Hi all. I had the XP Anti-virus 2012 virus two days ago. I ran Malwarebytes to get rid of it. It seemed to work, but I kept getting a pop up that Malwarebytes was blocking an outgoing IP address. I googled some info and turned the pop up off. However, I started to notice my google searches were sometimes being redirected by Search-Fast-Results. I googled that and found your website. It seems like the first thing Gringo always says is to run Combofix, so I downloaded it and ran it. It said I had the Rootkit Zero Access virus. Now, it's after 2 am here in Texas so I may not have fully understood what it said next. But I could have sworn it said to reboot and then try to access the internet. If the internet was shut down I should run Combfix again.

I did not get a log pop up if that was what should have happened. However, I tried some searches in my Firefox browser and the redirect seems to have gone away. Just looking for some guidance on how to proceed. Thanks.

Forgot to mention I also ran TDSSKiller.

I ran the first three steps, copy and pasted to this reply. I then ran Malwarebytes. When it finished it only gave me the options to close and restart or restart later. It did not give me an option to update and launch. I was trying to type this out when the reply box closed on me and I lost what I had pasted. Now, I can give you the FSS.txt and the MiniTool Results.txt, but not the first one. I didn't go any further when I didn't get the update option on Malwarebytes. I wasn't sure if I should start over or not.

Ok, here are the logs. Malwarebytes still didn't give me an option to update and launch. I had to manually open the program, update and then scan.

You have more serious issues there.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

Thank you. I'll work on this right now. I'm not real tech savvy, so I'm glad you've walked me through this. I'm able to search without getting redirected now and everything seems okay, but you obviously see something there that's an issue.
