When I search for anything on Google, the link that I would click on to go to the website that came up in the search results has been changed to something to do with 95p.com. Broni helped me a little by providing me with the information of some logs which I should give to him, and the link to that topic is here. I was then told that I would need more advanced help and that I should create a new topic in this forum, and follow the steps from step 6 onwards in the preparation guide for use before using malware removal tools and requesting help. I have done that and the logs which I was told to create in the prep guide are all attached. Thanks a lot.

I have just got a popup message from MBAM and I screenshot it - the screenshot can be found here. Please take a look and tell me what I should click... Thanks.

I clicked Quarantine as instructed by Broni.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

  • Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  • please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  • Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  • Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  • Do not run anything while running a fix.
  • Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!

Click on the Watch Topic Button and select Immediate Notification and click on proceed, this will help you to get notified faster when I have replied and make the cleaning process faster.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:

You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)

Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<

Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal.

You can download Combofix from one of these links.
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
1. Close any open browsers or any other programs that are open.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.

Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Note 2: If you recieve an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registery key that has been marked for deletion." Please restart the computer

"information and logs"

  • In your next post I need the following
  • Log from Combofix
  • let me know of any problems you may have had
  • How is the computer doing now?

Hi, I've just tried to switch on my computer and it forced me to do a startup repair, it's run more than seven already and is still running now. When/if I eventually get on to it I will run combofix. Thanks a lot.

Another symptom I'm having which you should probably know about is that when I run my computer from startup normally it will shut itself down with a crash dump bsod notice; the same thing happens in safe mode. So now I am having to open in "Last known good configuration" which helps the computer to load up and work fine.

I've been given a 'Diagnosis and repair details' log from Startup Repair. Do you want me to type the whole thing out (which will take a good hour at least I think)?

Looks to me now like it's restarting itself (whether I'm starting with last known good config or not) then when I leave it alone to start windows normally it does Startup Repair :/

did you ever get to run combofix?

System Recovery Environment

To access the System Recovery Environment , simply boot your PC,

  • just before the system loads the Windows operating system, hit the [F8] Function 8 key on your keyboard which will launch the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  • There you will see a new option 'Repair Your Computer', select this option and hit 'Enter' on your keyboard.
  • Now, from the System Recovery Options dialog, select the "Operating System" you want to repair, then click Next:
  • From the "Choose a Recovery Tool" dialog menu, select "Command Prompt":
  • Type the following into the "Command Prompt Window": and press enter

    bootrec.exe /fixmbr

If you have problems booting the computer after you have run that command boot back into the System Recovery Environment and Type the following into the "Command Prompt Window": and press enter

bootrec.exe /fixboot

Nope, I can't that far :/ Do you want the log that startup repair gives me as I can type it up now, I've got nearly half way through typing it up on Notepad. As soon as I get a reply from you I'll either finish typing up the startup repair log or follow your instructions as you've just given me.

Run both those commands and the same thing has happened both times. Keeps going to startup repair.

If you mean the one where I went into system repair --> command prompt, I tried the first one and said it completed successfully, then I restarted and I still got the startup repair thing, then I tried with the second command you gave me and the same thing happened. So no I can't get into windows, the furthest I get is startup repair.
