Thanks for helpful general information in browsing this site. This is a simple problem. I have a friend who sometimes sends me silly jokes by email. My concern is that my name and email address is added to a long list of her other friends who send or receive stuff like this. Is there any real security risk with this eg: spammers and hackers causing problems?
Regards and Happy New Year,

The best way would always be prevention. So by not opening Unsolicited email messages, deleting right away from your inbox, spam folder and permanently from trash folders and checking your security/spam preferences such as in Yahoo mail. Knowing more information and understanding it such as from this Link would also help.

If you are going to forward emails with all those previous email addresses (including yours), once you go into Forward mode you can delete all the previous email addresses. You can't delete them until you click on that Forward button (also applies to Reply mode).

To Distinguished Member,
Thankyou for your excellent links. I hope other people reading this follow them. You have helped me identify the problem as "Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE)". Now I can politely ask my friend to stop doing this.
Cheers, violetrose.

To New Member,
Thanks for the helpful hint. I am new to computers and value any useful information.
Cheers, violetrose.
