1)So, I just came home and it seems like I somehow got a virus. It made a fake anti virus which showed a fake log, but I couldn't x out of it because it wouldn't let me open task manager and control panel and it started to hide all the files. Then it took away my administrator and wouldnt let me delete it. It also kept making me reboot until i got into safe mode. So, its NOT deleteable,I had to take away it's privilege, and now it is hiding somewhere on my computer. I know I didn't get rid of it and thats why I need your help.

2)After all of this, my computer is unable to open .exe files, so could you guys please help me with that too. I get the quote "windows cannot access the specified device path or file"

3) I followed the prep guide, but I got stuck on step 8 because Services,Registry,Files, C:\, and ADS were the only things I could uncheck/check

4) Anyways, here are the DDS logs

Hello, Welcome to BleepingComputer.
I'm nasdaq and will be helping you.

If you can please print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.
===

This infection changes settings on your computer so that when you launch an executable, a file ending with .exe, it will instead launch the infection rather than the desired program. To fix this we must first download a Registry file that will fix these changes.

Download FixNCR.reg

Once that file is downloaded and saved on a removable devices, insert the removable device into the infected computer and open the folder the drive letter associated with it. You should now see the FixNCR.reg file that you had downloaded onto it. Double-click on the FixNCR.reg file to fix the Registry on your infected computer. You should now be able to run your normal executable programs and can proceed to the next step.

If you do not have any removable media or another clean computer that you can download the FixNCR.reg file onto, you can try and download it to your infected computer using another method. On the infected computer, right click on the Internet Explorer's icon, or any other browser's icon, and select Run As or Run as Administrator. If you are using Windows XP, you will be prompted to select a user and enter its password. It is suggested that you attempt to login as the Administrator user. For Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you will be prompted to enter your Administrator account password.

Once you enter the password, your browser will start and you can download the above FixNCR.reg file. When saving it, make sure you save it to a folder that can be accessed by your normal account. Remember, that you will be launching the browser as another user, so if you save it to a My Documents folder, it will not be your normal My Documents folder that it is downloaded into. Instead it will be the My Documents folder that belongs to the user you ran the browser as. Once the download has finished, close your browser and find the FixNCR.reg file that you downloaded. Now double-click on it and allow the data to be merged. You should now be able to run your normal executable programs and can proceed to the next step.

  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

1) It seems like I dont have all my administrator priviledges that I have had before, I can't save programs/files in any place I choose to, I have to go to a certain libary in order to save it because it says that I don't have the priviledge to save anywhere else. This has never came up before I got this virus

Delete the ComboFix version you have downloaded recently.

Try this.

Download ComboFix from any of the links below but rename it to xSwunx.exe before saving it to your desktop. <- Important.

Link 1
Link 2
==================================

  • Disable your Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

Double click on the renamed ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Note: If you have difficulty properly disabling your protection programs, refer to this link --> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html

Do not mouse click combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall
====

If you still cannot get a log Delete the xSwunx.exe (ComboFix)

WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

We need to try something different. You will need a flash drive to do this...do you have one? If so, please do the following:

A CD will do instead of the Flash Drive.

Download ComboFix from any of the links below but rename it to svchost.exe before saving it to your Flash Driver or CD. <- Important.

Link 1
Link 2

Once you have it downloaded to your Flash Drive or CD, I want you to save it directly to your C:\ drive. Be sure to do this in Normal Mode.
Double click on the renamed ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

* When finished, it will produce a report for you.
* Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt so we can continue cleaning the system.

Still not working, a black screen pops up then goes away.
When I download combo fix to my flashdrive, am I suppose to be doing it from a different computer?

We have to look deeper in for this infection.

Preferably from a clean computer, I need you to download: gparted-live-0.10.0-3.iso (115.1 MB) and this one,
Windows 7 64-Bit (x64) Recovery Environment

Create a bootable CD, 1 for Gparted and 1 for the Windows 7 Recovery Enviroment, from the ISO images. You can use ImgBurn do this.

This will help you burning the iso image(s) to a CD.

Now boot off of the newly created Gparted CD.

Choose your language and press ENTER. English is default [33]

Once again, at this prompt, press ENTER

You will now be taken to the main GUI screen below

I need to see a print screen of this last image.

To do print screen follow these steps:

* Press Alt and Print Screen button on your keyboard
* Open Paint program
* From the menu choose Edit then Paste
* Now save the picture and attach it here for me to review.

1)I am unable to download the windows 7 recovery equipment, I get this message even after I made an account on the site:
" you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

-Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
- If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

2) I downloaded gpart from a clean computer but when I try to boot it up, it doesnt give me an option to run any .exe
3) The virus has hidden my accessories which includes paint, so is there any substitute I can use?

I downloaded gpart from a clean computer but when I try to boot it up, it doesnt give me an option to run any .exe

You may not be able to run any .exe file. Run this tool and try to run the latest renamed Combofix program (xSwunx.exe or svchost.exe) post the log if you can.

I can run .exes now, but what I meant by that is when I put the disc in, it doesn't boot up even when I try to use another computer. Here is what I have on the disc:
-.disk (Folder)
-EFI (folder )
- Isolinux ( folder )
- live (folder)
-syslinux ( folder )
- utils ( folder )
- COPYING ( file )
- Gparted-live-version (file )

would you be able to guide me through this using teamviewer or something?

Sorry no. I only have this computer and not ready to install remote access.

To get the disk to boot you may have to change the boot sequence. I suspect that C: is current set to boot.
What you have to probably do is set your CD driver to boot first.

This will walk you though it

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ss/bootorderchange.htm

If successful then when you have posted the partition tables you can reset the bios to use C as it first boot sequence.

When I go to my BIOs, I don't have C: but I have something along the lines of DVD. Do I bump that one to the top instead?

Look at this image.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ss/bootorderchange_3.htm

Is your hard drive identified? That should be your C:\

but I have something along the lines of DVD

You should select the DVD and return to the hard drive when done.

Ok, since my paint isn't showing I had to do this the ghetto way and take a picture with my phone then upload it to photobucket.
I haven't deleted any of these yet, so let me know if I need to delete one. thanks
