My machine is a mess. It all started with a POP-UP stating that I have a Trojan Horse - file name = samicro.dll .... even after booting, it refuses to go away.
Other symptoms that I can't fix include:
1. When I try to go to Windows Update page (to download Malicious Tool remover), IE just hangs - not responding.
2. When I boot into SAFE mode to try to delete C:\WINDOWS\SAMICRO.DLL - I receive ACCESS DENIED ... even though there are no ATTRIBS protecting it.
3. I ran BITDEFENDER - it identified 131 files that it deleted (infected). It reported that there were some files that it dcouldn't delete .... but I couldn't find them in the log it produced.
Short of reformatting this thing and the painful reinstall process, is there any hope?
Thanks in advance.
