Problem on my Window 7

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me with this problem i have on my ventrilo and my sound stopped working after it happened. When i log on vent i get this message saying "Unable to activate DirectSound for selected device.
DirectSoundCaptureCreate failed. HR=DSERR_NODRIVER. No sound driver is available for use" Weird part is i can hear people in vent but i can't hear anything else like youtube. I have HP computer model number is A6332F

Try the solution in the last post in that thread and report back what you find.

Also, check your playback device settings and make sure things look as they should.

If it looks like I know what I'm doing, there's a pretty good chance the only reason for that is because
I once asked someone to run chkdsk /r and a BC Advisor smacked me in the back of the head.
