I recently had a virus and managed to remove it with Security Essentials and Malewarebytes but now my my Windows firewall is disabled. The message I get when I attempt to enable is "error code 0x80070424." I have seen a couple of posts here regarding this and have tried to follow the fixes but am having problems. The fix I am following is http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic436093.html. I am at the part where I have downloaded the "Seven.zip" and tried to right-click on bfe.reg but Merge is not an option. Can I just double-click on it and run it?

Here is the results of my scan using the Farbar Service Scanner.

Hi

If you dont have merge option,it may open as a notepad

You can right click on the file

Click on OPEN WITH
and then

Click on Browse

Navigate to C:/WINDOWS

Select REGEDIT and click ok

Now you should get UAC prompt, click YES

Good luck

You can also fix your REG file association using instructions on this page : http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
Then you should be able to right-click on bfe.reg and find Merge.

Forget about my last post. I extracted the files to my hard drive and then it allowed me to Merge them.

Thanks
