Hello all

My goal is to extend broadband wireless coverage in the house. Downstairs wireless Hub/router, upstairs low signal.

My laptop is Packard Bell wireless, hub Netgear working fine, 2nd router Belkin F5D7230-4 is now connected with Cat5 ethernet cable, wanted to connect wirelessly from the hub but messed up configuration page. I set up the Belkin router as Access point and changed the IP from 192.168.2.1 to Hub's IP 192.168.0.254 (outside the last IP address given by Hub which is 192.168.0.253)

The 2nd router (belkin) is more than just an access point though? By that I mean its a full blown router/firewall etc? You may still be able to use it, if that's the case, but have you turned the DHCP server/NAT off etc? As your existing router will be doing this for you.

There was an option to make the Belkin router an Access Point. So I checkmarked that box and after the change was applied, I was asked for the IP in which case I changed it. Havent touched anything else.

Not sure if i understood your post correctly, but it may be you have got them on different subnets?one on 192.168.0.xxx and the other on 192.168.2.xxx. if thats the case, the first 3 sets of numbers need to be identical
failing that , then u need a AP capable of doing ESSID, if you have no options for it, google it. Basically one ap needs to recognise its a slave of the ssid that you set. if they cant do essid then even though you have the same ssid for both ap's they will be different wifi networks
