I'm going to be buying a new PC in a month or so, and the upgrade to a Radeon HD 6870 is roughly $100 more then the GTX 550 Ti. Is it worth it?

Both are 1GB cards but I don't know any other information besides that; both are through HP for a HPE h8xt PC.

From internet research I've done, it seems some people prefer the GTX while others like the 6870....I couldn't find a straight up answer as to which card is better and if the performance difference is worth $80.

EDIT: Also, the specs of the PC im considering if anyone wants to know/needs to know:

Processor: Intel Core i7-2600k 3.4ghz (turbo boost to 3.8ghz - 8MB cache)
Memory/RAM: 10GB DDR3
Hard Drive: 2TB 7200rpm...although I may change to a 128GB SSD and a 500GB for internal storage
