Hi. Ok here is my problem i've had this pc for 2 years now and last month it started to BSOD, at first i thought its overheat or stress from gaming, but then it did start to appear more often. Thought it is from some not up to date drivers so i updated drivers to the lastest, but without any success next thing thing i did was memtest86 to see if it is something with my RAM, but all tests passed. So i had enough with it and did a clean Windows XP Home install, got the lastest drivers for everything, but BSOD still appears randomly. I didn't still find any cause and currently i'm running HD tune to see if there are any damaged sectors on my HDD. I also attached minidump files after my clean install of windows. As i've searched and gone by every forums and threads of bsod problems so here i posted mine. Hope to get some answers or tips.

Hi, let's try this for easier analysis of the BSODs.

Download/install BlueScreenView, http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html .

Double-click BlueScreenView.exe file.

When autoscan is done (screen comes up), click Edit/Select All...then File/Save Selected Items.

Save the report as BSOD.txt.

Open BSOD.txt...copy all content and paste it into your next reply.

You used SeaTools for DOS?

You have a Seagate hard drive?

You ran the long test, not the short?

You have ntfs.sys errors...which typically can indicate a file problem, a file system problem, or a hard drive problem. Needless to say, a file system or hard drive problem...could result in any number of errors that point in the wrong direction because the base of the system has been undermined.

Thanks.

I either forgot or did not know that Samsung had sold their drives division, but I see that it has.

So the hard drive is removed from suspicion.

If the partition/file system was askew, that should have been revealed during the running of the chkdsk /r command.

Avast and your Realtek audio drivers...I would uninstall/reinstall both Avast and the audio drivers...and see how the system runs afterward.

Louis

I read a MS Answers article that also mentioned that video drivers can cause similar symptoms...I would also uninstall/reinstall those.

Yes i myself suspected also driver problems i removed and even downgraded them but no results so thats why i did even clean windows install. So i am suspecting it is hardware error not software, is it possible my RAM gets corrupted? most of times i get BSOD when my system gets some sort of "hard job"and then again even when booting up to dekstop so i've no idea. 2 Passes at Memtest86+ so far, but i guess it doesn't show anything and i've got some nasty infection instead.

I can't answer many questions about hardware (minimal experience)...frankly, I expected the hard drive diagnostic to be more enlightening.

Among your errors, you have hal.dll, which often points to hardware situations.

Out of curiosity and my own personal experience on one system...I'd have to consider the CMOS battery. I've had it result in various BSOD error messages that had no validity and replacing the battery solved that situation. This is really a stretch and if I had not experienced it, I would not have considered such.

The other possibility that I would consider is that your Windows install is corrupt. I would eliminate by either doing a repair install of Windows or running the sfc /scannow command.

Is there any reason to suspect malware? Can you connect to MS website...use system tools like regedit, etc? I try not to go with wild guesses and "malware" seems to be a convenient way for many of us to say "I don't have a clue." In any case, you can run scans with your installed AV and a program like Malwarebytes...or simply post a topic in the Am I Infected Forum to satisfy your curiosity regarding such.

Thank you for the answer, yes the malware one is more like a desparate call "i have no clue" one, cause i'm at point i have no idea what to do and yes i can use system tools. About Realtek and Avast i did uninstall/reinstall them and still got BSOD, i add the dump logs also might be some help. Also when i start computer sometimes it doesnt start at all(it gets just power but i dont hear it booting hdd or anything) i have to like force shutdown it from power button. Hmm about Windows install being corrupt i dont think so because i've had the same operation system for 2 years and BSOD started to appear last month, more and more often. So this CMOS battery might even work

when i start computer sometimes it doesnt start at all(it gets just power but i dont hear it booting hdd or anything) i have to like force shutdown it from power button.

It may be that the PSU is failing (with age?)? This can cause all sorts of problems, and may well explain what is happening.

Do you have a spare or can you borrow one from another computer/friend to try? It must be of adequate capacity for your system, of course. If not, you may need to buy a new one.

Can you report voltages on the system? One way to get some idea of what voltages might be is to look in the BIOS Setup menu.

Well it might be aswell PSU but tomorrow im gonna get this lithium battery as we talked with friend that it is pretty logical aswell that this battery or PSU. Anyway the voltages : CPU Voltage 1.1350V // CPU Vcore 1.088 V up to 1.240V ( this one changes alot, not sure if it has to be like that) // 3.3V 3.360V // 5V 5.045V // 12V 11.880V up to 11.968V (also changes but only those 2 values). Hope these help you and i got the right ones else i feel just dumb and need directions which sort of values you need.

The above figures appear a little suspect, but I can't be sure without knowing the details of the system specifications.
