Hello, this is probably a dumb question, but ill ask it anyway since google isn't yielding any answers. I just went from a nvidia 750 sli motherboard (you wont even find it on newegg anymore) that had an HDD slot near the sata slot. This fit a giant cable that connected also to my dvd drive. This slot no longer exists on my new p67 intel motherboard. What gives?

What am i supposed to use to connect my drive to my mobo now?

That IDE aka PATA port is discontinued and has been for a while now.

1. Options Buy a new SATA DVDRW drive
2. buy a controller card to use the old drive.
3. Buy an external case to use the old drive.

Cleanest option buy a new SATA drive and at a guess all three options are around the same cost.

Options 2 & 3 you are spending money to use a drive that could die at any time.

I must have been editing when you posted. See my modified reply. IMO Buy a new SATA drive.

This should work....Amazon.com: Bidirectional IDE to SATA Converter: Electronics

  • Compliant with Serial ATA specification
  • Supports 3.5-inch IDE and SATA hard drives
  • Supports large and small 4-pin power connectors
  • Connectors: One (1) IDE connector, Two (2) SATA connectors, One (1) 4-pin power connector

Just curious what you paid as I've seen them well under $30 online.
