Good morning and Happy New Year!!

My nickname is "mr bill". I'm a 61 year old male living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I spent 20 years in a management position in the Circulation Department at The San Francisco Chronicle. My claim to fame is marrying beautiful women who turn out to be fifty-one-fifty. I've been divorced 3 times.
I bought my first computer in 2004. Although most of my friends come to me for help, I don't consider myself an expert at all. Over the years I've been victimized at least 3 or 4 times by that infamous "XP Anti-virus" thing that so successfully disguises itself as a Microsoft Product. The most recent instance resulted in a fried hard drive, and I finally bought my second desktop - an "off-lease" Dell Optiplex GX520 (a great deal at $140) - that is serving me just fine while I decide on a final configuration. Things are changing so fast that having $1500 to spend turns out to be a huge task.
Anyway; I'm confident that Bleeping Computer will continue to be helpful. I have become a "housekeeping fool". I keep my system trim, and clean it up constantly. This obviously results in questions that I'm usually able to answer by doing my job and researching it. Your site has been a great help. In the past I have always drawn the line at changing the registry, but things are accumulating. I will address those issues in the forums. Thanks for reading this.
