Hello again - it's been a long time. I'm working on my Laptop now...

System:

HP dv9330ca laptop running Vista 64-bit. NVidea GE Force 7600 video and Conexant audio. 2GB RAM.

I hooked-up the HDMI cable from the lappy to the TV (Toshiba 32DT2U or 32C110U, not sure) and had no sound through the TV, so I...
Set the sound on the lappy to digital ouput (SPDIF) in Control Panel - still no sound.
Updated video drivers (after google and HP website suggestion)- we have sound (isn't this odd??).
Updated audio drivers - sound is gone (what the...??).
Rollback audio driver - still no sound -.-
Re-install video drivers - we have sound.
Reboot - we still have sound!!
Power down Toshiba display and power back on (left the lappy on and streaming audio and video) - no more sound :(
Re-install video drivers - still no sound :(

I have rebooted after all the mentioned steps above. I am making sure that the sound is set to digital in Control Panel but it isn't helping anymore, nor is the re-install of the video drivers. I am thinking that the rollback of the audio driver suggests that I should not try re-installing the newer one, as it seemed previously to cause a conflict.

As always, your suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

** UPDATE...

I did install the newer audio driver and got sound to work. I even re-booted and still had sound. However, when I powered down the system and came back a couple days later, I had no sound again!. Re-installed the audio driver - still no sound.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!
