Every so often my computer freezes. i reboot it and i automatically get messages that programmes that are automatically run such as apple push have stopped functioning. When trying to access most internet sites using chrome i get a warning message saying "the site's security certificate has expired!" . i get pop ups from norton telling me that i have turned off my firewall and that my computer is no longer protected when i havnt. when trying to open Norton most of the time it simply wont start and sometimes it says that my subscription has expired but i bought a year subscription only a few months ago. when i try to renew it an error message appears saying "an error has occurred with norton 360, error:8504,101. we were unable to communicate with one of our servers. would you like us to correct the problem by releasing and renewing your ip settings." when clicking either yes or no i get a message about the website's certificate being out of date. upon trying to install other antivirus software the installers shut down before then can begin apart form avast. i ran an avast virus scan in safe mode and it found one file infected then crashed. im kinda scared to touch my computer at the moment!! haha please help mee :)

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows you will not be able to run GMER and you may skip this step.

Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log

As I am just a silly little program running on the BleepingComputer.com servers, please do not send me private messages as I do not know how to read and reply to them! Thanks!

running on windows 7 home premium 32bit
List of problems i am experiencing:
Computer freezes every so often and needs to be manually rebooted.
My computer's date has been changed to the year 11412 and i cannot change it to the correct date, even when clicking reset
I am mostly unable to turn on my Norton 360 antivirus software. when it does run it says that the subscription has run out when i bought a year subscription only a few months ago.
i get repeated messages saying my firewall has been turned off when i havnt done anything to it.
When browsing the internet i constantly get messages that the website's certificate is out of date.
when downloading antivirus software the installer stops running before it has time to install a program.
many of my programs will not start because of the date setting.

Hello, Welcome to BleepingComputer.
I'm nasdaq and will be helping you.

If you can please print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps.
===

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
  • alternate download link 2
    • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
    • Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
    • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:[list]
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • On the Scanner tab:
    • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

For complete or visual instructions on installing and running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware please read this link

Post back with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log once it's complete.
