I reformatted my sisters Dell XPS 400 with original disc but don't have the drivers on it. I got all the drivers but still have 2 yellow arrows in device manager. Its the Video Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatibal) I put the service tag in at dell drivers website but cant figure out which ones I need. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

If you could post the service tag and pictures of the top and bottom of the card please?

Or if the card came with the computer
go to www.dell.com, bottom of the page select Drivers & Downloads
Support for
Home Users,
select the big green button underneath that text.
Then put your service tag off of the back of the computer it could also be on top on a label.
then when you get to the Drivers & Downloads page choose
warranty status >
Then the center tab, Original system configuration

In the one I looked up as a test it shows this "9Y452 Card, Graphics, 128MB, NV34, Dimension" This is from a dell dimension not your computer just as an example.
Then I go back to the drivers page and select the video section and choose the one that matches when there is more than one selection.

BTW in a Dell you will find the factory drivers in a C:\Dell\Drivers folder or C:\Drivers or both and can save them before formatting.
Good Luck and Hope this helps

Dell will not show us your personal "My Systems" section of their site. Please include the Service Tag itself in your next reply.

If it looks like I know what I'm doing, there's a pretty good chance the only reason for that is because
I once asked someone to run chkdsk /r and a BC Advisor smacked me in the back of the head.

Ok that fixed the video driver now I got one other problem. The sound doesnt work and all drivers look good with no yellow ? now. If I go to control panel then to sounds and devices it says no audio device and she has here speaker system that came with it plugged into the proper port its color coded green. Any idea why the sound wont work? Thanks again.

I tried all 3 drivers in the dell d/l for my service tag and none of them made a difference. And again all drivers show good in the device manager. Thanks!

Most likely it is the Sigma Tel
Make sure to uninstall any Creative Labs programs that might have installed before trying them
In the beginning there was the command line.

Thats the first one I tried and it didnt work. I tried all 3 that it gives. Maybe its something else I dunno. All drivers look good in device manager to now. I dunno why it dont work. But it does say no Audio device in the sound and audio under volume tab. And yes I've restarted the computer a million times.

What does device manager report for the audio device?
SigmaTel or Creative Labs?

Also, did you install the chipset driver?
If not please do so.
In the beginning there was the command line.
