Hello,

I downloaded and tried to install the ITunes update to 10.5.2 64 Bits. Now, Itunes doesn't start any more. My OS is Windows 7.

I get the following error message :

"The procedure entry point AVCFAssetCreateWithByteStreamAndOptions could not be located in the dynamic link library AVFoundationCF.dll.

When I press OK , I get

'ITunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall ITunes Error7 (Windows error127).

How can I solve this? I already tried Control Panel - Apple Application Support - Repair, withou any result.

Thanks for useful hints !

Kind regards,

Paul

Paul, good morning and Happy New Year.

Perhaps take a peek at this link:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3074

And, based upon the information there, I would, before I performed any of those actions, make sure your Windows Update is...well, up to date.

Seemed to be a large Update pushed out the other day involving Microsoft's .NET Framework. Saw this on my machine (I'm running Vista) as well as my wife HP Laptop and she's running Win7 / 64 bit.

Also, once the Windows updates have been applied, I would always reboot before then moving onto the re/install of iTunes.

Please let me know if that helps.

Onward,

Winterland

Paul, coffee's kicking in and re-reading my post, I wanted to offer up an apology if the Update comment seemed a little snarky.

Don't want to end the Old Year, or usher in the New One being snarky, rude and anything of the sort.

Again, all apologies if the comment offended.

Hope the advice/links are helpful.

Hi Winterland,

thanks for your reply. And no problem, no apologies needed, your comment didn't offend me at all. And yes, my Windows update is up to date :-)

I have taken a look at the link you suggested and have reinstalled .NET Framework 4.0 But the problem is still there...
Any other idea?

Happy New Year and have a great 2012 !

Kind regards,
Paul

Hey Paul, good morning and welcome to the New Year.

Looking over the iTunes download page, just want to make sure we're ruling out the obvious - I can't remember how I did the install on my wife's HP (the Windows7/64 bit) - did you happen to notice under the Windows Software notes (on the left of the page) that it states:

64-bit editions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 require the iTunes 64-bit installer << and it's a hot link.

I'll be jumping in and out all day - helping my Mother-in-Law set up the new router for her spiffy new Kindle - but I'll check in again to see if that was the case, otherwise, I'll be home this evening and, perhaps, may try an install on my wife's laptop - I seem to recall she had some problems with iTunes playing nice.

Hi Winterland,

yes, I used the 64-bit edition of Windows 7 with the iTunes 64-bit installer ...

Seems to be a difficult problem..

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help !

Kind regards,
Paul

Dear Winterland,

the problem is solved ! I completely removed Itunes and all other Apple Software from my computer. The I downloaded Itunes64Setup.exe again and installed it, without being connected to the internet and with my antivirus and firewall turned off.
This worked !

I wish to sincerely thank you for your great help and advice and for having spent some time on my problem !

I wish you and your family all the best for 2012 !

Kind regards,
Paul
