Hi,

My Dad has a Canon iP2600 printer. He's had it for about 3 years now but rarely uses it. For a few weeks, whenever he's tried to use it it says it can't print because the colour ink cartridge has run out. I've tried installing two new ones, but it doesn't help. He's using a Mac with OS X 10.4. I've tried using it on my Windows 7 PC and I get the same error. Does anyone have any idea how to fix the problem?

Thanks,
Joe

Several possibilities come to mind.

1. Non Canon cartridges
2. Refilled cartridges
3. Wrong cartridge
4. Dirty contacts on the printer or cartridge

As I understand it this is one of the ones that have a little chip in the cartridge to make sure you don't refill or use generics.

If these are the real Canon carts then I'd be all over canon for support.
