Hello,

I recently got a the Windows Vista 2012 virus. I was able to remove it, and everything was fine for a couple days except I could tell my computer was slower. However, recently I've been getting a lot of blue screens. When windows found the problem when I rebooted my PC, it was because security center wasn't turned on.
When I go to security essentials it says: "To help protect your computer, make sure the four security essentials below are marked On, or OK." But the only option there is is security center, which when i try to turn on it says "The Security Center service can't be started."
I get no warning signs by my tools saying that security center is turned off. I do have a green house with a flag, also called security essentials, that says my computer is protected. It might be something else I installed, I have been installing several things to my computer to remove the Windows Vista 2012 virus, as well as try to fix this same problem, but nothing has worked yet.
When I go back to Control Panel>Security, my firewall is turned off too, when i try to turn it on it says "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display windows firewall settings."
Them same thing with windows defender, except it says "Windows Defender encountered an error: 0x80070424. The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

I have searched the web myself to find people with the same problem. I have seen many people except they can solve the problem by simply doing Start>Run>services> and finding security center and turning it on. I can't even find a security center option, the closest thing i see to that is called Security Accounts Manager and that is already turned on.

Any help to make my pc run smoother, and stop these constant blue screens would be great, thanks.

You are missing 4 windows services

Firewall
base filtering engine
defender
security center

Please follow the method i gave here

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic434478.html

That should enable your windows firewall and defender

To make your security center work,i need to know if its a 32 bit or 64 BIT OS

Good luck

I use 32 bit.

Also, I followed what you posted, I have BFE running, I'm not sure if it was there before or not.
As for Windows Firewall, when I go to run>services, and I try to start it, it loads like 1/10th of the bar, and then stops and says: "Windows could not start the Windows Firewall on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to the service-specific code 5."
And when I try to open Windows Firewall by going to control panel>security, and turning it on, it says "Windows Firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall service?" I click yes, it loads for a second and then says "Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall service."

Windows defender seems to be working when I use it from control panel>security.

So I just need more help with Firewall and Security Center (32 bit)

I still get the same problem as before, it says the same stuff for errors.
When you say launch it, you mean by doing Start>run>type firewall.reg, right? That's what I have been doing.

This is what I do.

Start>Run> I type in firewall.reg

Registry Editor comes up asking for permission, and I hit yes. No notepad comes up.

It says: Adding information can unintentionally change or delete values can cause components to stop working correctly. If you do not sure the source of this information in C:Users\Kim\firewall.reg, do not add it to the registry. Are you sure you want to continue?

I hit Yes. And then it says The keys and values contained in C:\Users\Kim\firewall.reg have been successfully added to the registry.

I hit OK and reset, but I still have the same problem and windows firewall doesn't work both when I go into control panel, and also when I go into services and try to turn it on there but it does the same thing as what I said earlier.

I did the same routine with windows defender and it works when I open it through control panel>security, (doesn't work through services, it says "The Windows Defender Service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services programs." But since it works through control panel I don't think it should be a problem.) so I don't know why it doesn't work with windows Firewall.

The 2nd option didn't work, but the first option said it wouldn't run because I had norton firewall running. If I don't need windows firewall and can be fine with just norton than we can move on. I just hope windows firewall needs to work for security center to work.

Other than that all I need is security center fix. I use 32 bit windows vista
