I have been using the same home wireless connection with my laptop for about a year and it suddenly isn't working. The name of my connection is not showing up in the list of available ones, but other people's are. I can connect with a cable and it works, but no wireless on my laptop/phone/e-reader. I know this is probably something really silly and simple to fix and I apologize in advance at my lack of knowledge.

What I've tried:
power cycling the laptop/modem/router
updating firmware for router
renew IP address
disabling encryption for router
checked to make sure laptop wireless is on

Laptop is an Asus K60IJ
Shaw cable internet with a D-Link DIR-601 router

Have you tried disabling/enabling the wireless adapter or reinstalling its driver?

The name of my connection is not showing up in the list of available ones, but other people's are.

What connection do you refer here? Home network connection?

Check router's MAC address filtering and try turning off.
