Cd Not Being Read When Loaded

all of asudden my cd drive is not being read when loaded

Do you get any error messsages?
Can you see files on the CD?
Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one should be silent.

CD drives go bad...did you (temporarily) try replacing it with a known good DVD/CD drive?
