My name is John Green, and I currently live south of Atlanta, although most of my life was spent in Ohio. I have done my own setup and maintenance of computer systems since the days of the XT, and was system administrator for a medium-sized company in Ohio. I have been careful and have not been plagued by a virus in over 20 years. Yesterday I somehow got the XP Security Virus, which I think I was able to eradicate, but I now have ping.exe issue that is slowing my system, often resulting in a lockup if I stay conntecte to the internet.
I thought I could save some hours by getting outside help for the first time. This site appears to be a great resource, and it seems others in the group have had similar issues.

I will appreciate any help.
