Intelís Second-Gen Core CPUs: The Sandy Bridge Review

In its current state, Sandy Bridge-based processors are available with four cores (with and without Hyper-Threading) and two cores (dual-core models all have Hyper-Threading enabled).

I would venture to say an i7 is quad core, since it's the flagship. The review is for all three models.

Animal is correct 4 physical cores not counting the 4 hyperthreading with a 2600 or 2600k.

I did a I2600 build for my brother. If I thought he'd want to overclock it would have been a I7 2600K CPU. With a SSD boot drive it flies. Stock Retail box CPU heatsink & fan.
It is quiet and cool running and did I mention it is fast.

If you are doing a build or upgrade a I7 coupled with a SSD boot and regular drive for data works great for Video work for example.

Unfortunately for AMD the Intel I7 does most things faster with its 4cores + 4 hyperthreading. Including what I use it for which is encoding video.

AT the present time Bulldozer has turned out to be a disappointment.

Plus the I7 uses less power for more speed.
