I have been working on an issue for the past few days and I am breaking down and entering into a forum.. Fair warning I am not used to forums since I can usually find the problem myself.. My system is Windows Vista Home Premium, Dell Inspirion 531s, AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 Ghz, RAM memory 3006 MB, 32 bit operating sytem. Recently while I have been online my internet freezes and sends my whole computer to freeze up after that so I tried hard shut downs multiple times. I have had ChkDsk ran a few times of course and found nothing. I used MBAM and came up with some stuff that was deleted. I have ran AVG 2012 and had a trojan in my smb driver file so it deleted it. I have went into each of my browsers, which I use Google Chrome as my main browser and Internet Explorer that is barely used, and checked to make sure there are no extensions being used. I have downloaded and ran a driver utility that tells me I need to download quite a few drivers. I have downloaded a registry cleaner and cleaned the registry. I have downloaded HJT and fixed some of those files. However, it will not let me save a file log for some reason. I have downloaded and ran a shell viewer. Right now I am running 23 processes with only 7 of those within the 30,000K to 50,000K memory being used and 6 of those being Chrome with only 4 tabs open. I would like to know after all this has been done why my memory usage is Physical memory total 3005, Cached 1898, Free 1. Memory usage at 55% and computer usage at 8%. Kernal memory 222, Paged 151, Nonpaged 70. My memory box says 1.65 GB is that good or bad? After doing all these scans and deletions my computer has not been shutting off on me or requiring a hard shut down, but those numbers bother me a little. I do have shockwave quit on me still, but thought maybe that was an update issue with google? I would like to know if there is something else I can do to get those numbers down a bit? Any help is appreciated.

Would you please tell me which antivirus applications you have had previously on this machine any and all.The reason I ask is because some like to hang around after you uninstall via add remove programs and require the use of removal toools.

Run STARTUPLITE

Hit the start button in lower left hand corner. Then in the run box type msconfig, then hit the services tab then put a check mark in hide microsoft services what is listed there, after hiding microsoft services? Please post back to us in a vertical list.

Please download MINITOOLBOX When the box opens click save file, save it to the desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following boxes:
Flush Dns
List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size
Click Go and post the result.

Run sfc /scannow also run chkdsk /r Links explaining below.

chkdsk /r

sfc /scannow

IF THIS IS A DESKTOP Unplug the tower open up the side.Get can of compressed air and blow out the machine and reseat the ram modules video card etc,see video Plug it back in and see how it goes.WHILE YOU HAVE THE RAM AND VIDEO CARD OUT BLOW OUT THE SLOTS THAT THEY PLUG INTO.ALSO BLOW OUT THE HEAT SINK.SEE VIDEO

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND POST ALL INFORMATION REQUESTED!! :)

As far as I know (I bought this computer off one of my husband's friends) there was never any other AV on here. I think there was a Norton trial thing that appeared to be one as a purchase "plus". The only AV I have ever used on here is AVG both full version and free versions at different times.

I ran STARTUPLITE all that comes up in that box is SunJavaUpdateSched Disable Remove No Action

I ran MSCONFIG, checked hide all Microsoft services and this is what I got:

AVG Security Toolbar Service Unknown Stopped
AVGIDSAgent AVG Technologies CZ, s.r.o. Stopped
AVG WatchDog AVG TEchnologies CZ, s.r.o. Running
DSBrokerService Unknown Stopped
InstallDriver Table Manager Macrovision Corporation Stopped
McciCMService Alcatel-Lucent Stopped
McciServiceHost Alcatel-Lucent Running
NVIDIA Display Driver Service NVIDIA Corporation Running
RoxMediaD89 Sonic Solutions Stopped
Roxio Hard Drive Watcher 9 Sonic Solutions Stopped
stlssvr Macrovision Development,... Stopped
vToolbarUpdater Unknown Running
XAudioService Conexant Systems, Inc. Running

I paused my AVG to see if it made any difference since it was using alot of memory.

I downloaded the MINITOOLBOX, ran it and this is the post:

**** End of log ****

I am getting ready to run CHKDSK, but it has to be at startup so I will repost again after doing so.

Do you want the sfc /scannow log?

Last but not least, the first thing I did and I should have mentioned was blew out everything. I at first thought it might be an overheating issue, but it is still persisting.

Ok I ran CHKDSK at startup... It goes all the way through Stage 1 and then starts stage 2 of 5, but then stops and continues to load the OS. Is this normal? Could it be part of my problem?
