Hello All,

I am hoping someone knows the fix for my problem. Have Window vista home edition, HP computer, when I boot up I am able to get onto the internet thru IE, but at the desktop, when I click on any icon such as "word" or "excel" I am getting an error message "application not found" ... if I go to start, then programs, I am able to access word or excel documents. Can you tell me how to fix the "application not found" on the desktop ???? thank you so much, I am not really computer savvy and hoping for some guidance.

Some Links You Might Look At

The icons on the desktop are just shortcuts...you can recreate them by right-clicking on the .exe file for a given program...and sending a shortcut to the desktop.
