I have a computer that's been infected with the XP Home Security 2012 rogue, three times now. I've performed the steps detailed here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-xp-home-security-2012 each time and it appeared to work, but within a week to 10 days the problem returned.

I've just completed the procedure a third time - apparently with success.

I also ran Kaspersky rescue disk, scanned and removed some additional trojans that MBAM didn't get.

Although my computer seems to be running fine, and MBAM doesn't find anything with subsequent scans, should I be posting a log in the appropriate forum?

If so, do I use HJT or some other application to create the log?

I'd like to clean out whatever lurking problem has brought this infection back three times.

Thanks,

Hoosemon

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

Broni,

Thanks for your help and the quick response.

I followed the prep guide - almost completely - GMER wouldn't run competely.

I posted a new topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic433531.html and will wait patiently for someone to respond.

Thanks again,

Hoosemon
