My PC running on windows Vista crashes frequently.. if the PC is not active for 5 minutes, systems goes into a hanging mode and i have to shutdown and restart... Firefox google search crashes firefox..

MBAM quick scan does not show any errors..

I am thinking about reformatting and maybe even a upgrade to windows 7.. before that, i need to take a backup of my data and would like to ensure that i don't have any virus (don't want to transmit virus to my ext. harddrive)
