Hello Everyone,

I have heard some great things about this site/forum (and actually used a fix to remove a previous virus) so I was hoping some more computer savvy individuals might be able to help me.

A few days ago, my home PC was infected with the Vista Home Security 2012 virus. I followed one of the guides listed on this site (sorry I don't remember exactly which one as I had to use a laptop to read the instructions) and was able to remove the virus. I believe the steps involved were to update a registry (sorry if my terms are horribly off) run a kill program, then run Malwarebytes.

After I ran through these steps, the virus seemed to be gone, but I am still running into a few errors.

1. I can't seem to launch my normal vista security center anymore
2. When I launch Firefox, I randomly seem to get a "pop up" tab with random porn/adds/news etc.

I have tried updating Malwarebytes (I have a PRO account) as well as ClamAV (recommended by a friend) but to no avail. For the life of me I cannot figure out why these pop ups keep occurring, or even replicate the problem on a reliable basis. I can't determine exactly what I do that causes these pop ups.

I am running Vista Home Premium on a Lenovo, but will happily give any additional details if anyone has some ideas.

Thank you in advance for any help. It's nice to know that there are still good people out there willing to help those of us who don't quite know what we are doing.

Sorry for the confusion, it looks like I posted this in the wrong section.

If a mod would be so kind as to move this to? Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs

Thank you

Before it can be moved...you need to read/follow the steps listed at Preparation Guide, Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting Help - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html .

It would be simpler is you just follow the Prep Guide and post the logs in the designated forum, rather than post them here...saves us an administrative step...but either will get the logs where they belong :).
