Cannot connect to the internet after Combofix

EDIT: I ended up just convincing them to reinstall windows, you can delete this post.

I am trying to help a friends computer recover from a XP security 2012 rogueware virus. After removing it, malware bytes would spam that it was blocking malicious ip addresses. I saw a few posts that used Combofix to fixed this same issue, but after using it, the laptop no longer can get a connection to the internet. It can see wireless networks, but can't connect. I know this forum says don't run it unless asked, but I already ran it before seeing that. Sorry >.< I know I messed that up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I restarted and ran "netsh winsock reset" and still no connection.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

DeFogger:

  • Please download DeFogger to your desktop.

    Double click DeFogger to run the tool.
  • The application window will appear
  • Click the Disable button to disable your CD Emulation drivers
  • Click Yes to continue
  • A 'Finished!' message will appear
  • Click OK
  • DeFogger may ask you to reboot the machine, if it does - click OK
Do not re-enable these drivers until otherwise instructed.

Download DDS:

  • Please download DDS by sUBs from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:

    Please disable any anti-malware program that will block scripts from running before running DDS.
