Hi,

I have an Averatec N3400 laptop that I bought new in September 2009; it's been a great laptop to work with.

A few days ago, I couldn't get it to power on. I tried a different power cord/AC adapter(the one called Juice from iGo) and it worked for a while but then it stopped working.

I took it to a computer repair shop and they said the internal DC power source is busted and said it would cost $275 to fix it!
I'm out of a job right now and can't afford to pay this; besides I think that's too much to pay.

I opened up the back but couldn't figure out what to do.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I live in the Boston area, so if anyone knows of a good, cheap computer repair place, please send me the name/details.

Thanks.

If you're not sure what you are doing, it's best to leave it to the laptop repair specialist.
