Hello everyone, first time post, long-time-occasional visitor...

The other day, noticed a fairly large bit of bandwidth being used, so I looked into it through Resource Monitor, and found several connections to a pcwindowsscan7.com -- I did an swhois.net and thorough Internet search, but came up with nothing other than the domain seems to be up for grabs. The connections on this particular box (I have 2 other Windows 7 boxes that aren't affected), are associated with various applications, so difficult to determine if it's a particular app.

I have Malwarebyte's Anti-malware real-time scanning and up to date as well as AVG with the latest DAT, and full scans detect nothing.

One of the only obvious differences between Windows 7 boxes is that this one is running Carbonite (cloud backup software)...I'm thinking it's scanning for changed files to backup...but what was odd to me is that I wasn't able to find any reference on the Internet on "pcwindowsscan7.com" (and the domain name is up for grabs.

I've pointed my HOSTS file to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) for this pcwindowsscan7.com domain, with no ill effects on Carbonite (or any other program), but still no popups or warning on ...well, you may get the picture.

Anyway, posting here, maybe others have seen it? ...also if Google indexes the forums here, perhaps others can find this post and contribute knowledge.

Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Doesn't look good: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/pcwindowsscan7.com

Thanks for that, I did see that search result, it's rather vague, and no other results -- seems like there would be more info out there on it? -oh well, I'll reimage this box.
