Remove PC Optimizer Pro

I just attempted to download a software "converter" from a site that was supposed to be trusted. In the process I also downloaded a program called PC Optimizer Pro which began immediately to "analyze" my PC and found 1600 serious problems. I'm sure none or almost none exist, given the care I take with my PC these days. So, I'm highly suspect of this app.

Anyway, I want this software removed. To that end, I have uninstalled it from the Control Panel. I also went into the registry to remove several lines but was not able to find the first one listed. So, I thought I'd ask you, the pros, what I can do now. I have not rebooted so I don't know if it is actually still on my PC anymore or not. It looks so much like malware that from experience I suspect it is and expect the worst.

Addendum -- I just checked my Control Panel and sound "an error had occured when trying to uninstall" PC Optimizer Pro. So....I'm not sure where we are now.... Sigh.

Backing Up Your Registry

• Go Here and download ERUNT
  (ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) is a free program that allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.)
• Install ERUNT by following the prompts
  (use the default install settings but say no to the portion that asks you to add ERUNT to the start-up folder, if you like you can enable this option later)
• Start ERUNT
  (either by double clicking on the desktop icon or choosing to start the program at the end of the setup)
• Choose a location for the backup
  (the default location is C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT which is acceptable).
• Make sure that at least the first two check boxes are ticked
• Press OK
• Press YES to create the folder.

After uninstalling, clean the registry files:

1.Click "start" >run >Enter "regedit' >Ok.

2. Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{EB5A3A22-ECA7-4… remove the key which include PCOptProCtxMenu.

3. Remove HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Local AppWizard-Generated Applications\PCOptimizerPro

4. Remove HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Win… Menu2\Programs\PC Optimizer Pro

5. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Win… the key name which include PCOptimizerPro.exe, for example, name:d:\Program Files\PC Optimizer Pro\PCOptimizerPro.exe,

6. Remove HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PC Optimizer Pro

I'm running Windows 7/64.
Also...and here's the rub...Step two below is: 2. Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{EB5A3A22-ECA7-4… remove the key which include PCOptProCtxMenu. I attempted to find that line before I contacted BC and couldn't. It's not there.

Do you have another suggestion, by chance? I know the software is still on my PC becasue it's listed under "Programs" on the Control panel....

I will give you 2 options ... use the Revo Uninstaller Freeware

Or post a DDS log and have them find it all.

Uninstalling Programs Using Revo Uninstaller Free

Revo Uninstaller is more thorough in deleting programs on your computer than using the Add/Remove option in Windows. Since it is a more powerful tool, please be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

Please note there is a chance when you look for this program to uninstall through Revo it might not be listed because of the previous uninstall. If that is the case simply stop and let me know.

• Please download and install Revo Uninstaller Free
• Double click Revo Uninstaller to run it.
• From the list of programs double click on the listed program(s), or anything similar, to remove it[xcode]
  <<insert program name here>>
  [/xcode]
• When prompted if you want to uninstall click Yes.
• Be sure the Moderate option is selected then click Next.
• The program will run, If prompted again click Yes
• When the built-in uninstaller is finished click on Next
• Once the program has searched for leftovers click Next.
• Check the items in bold only on the list then click Delete. You may have to expand some folders by clicking the "+" mark.
• When prompted click on Yes and then on Next.
• Put a check on any folders that are found and select Delete
• When prompted select Yes then Next
• Once done click Finish.

I did install REVO but the PC Optomizer Pro was not shown in REVO.
I had to use add/remove option from windows.
I have not seen it since. I will let you know if something change.

I also have the same problem with PC Optimizer Pro im using Windows7.
I installed REVO but as i have already uninstalled it from my control panel it does not show up!
I know its still on my laptop as a window always pops up on start up and my laptop is not running programs
it usually does without a problem.
Please HELP!!

Try reinstalling it and then run Revo.
Reboot when done.
