My day started with my computer becoming infected with Win 7 Antivirus 2012 I followed the (awesome) instructions on bleeping computer and removed this threat.

Now Avast keeps popping up threat blocked messages and threat logs show one WIN32:Malware-Gen and multiple WIN32: DNS Changer –VJ [Trj] ( new one found every few minutes)

I patiently await your expert advice,

Thanks,

Brian

Hello Brian,lets take another look.
Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs

Rerun MBAM (MalwareBytes) like this:

Open MBAM in normal/regular mode and click Update tab, select Check for Updates, when done
click Scanner tab, select Quick scan and scan (normal mode).
After scan click Remove Selected, Post new scan log and Reboot into normal mode.

Good morning and than you for assisting me.

I apologize for the delayed response, I was out of town this weekend visiting family.

I ran the scans as you instructed. MiniToolbox appeared to run and complete the scan, butI did I encounter a problem a message box popped three times when the scan was running.

Message:

Nslookup.exe –Ordinal Not Found

The ordinal 1108 could not be located in the dynamic link librarary WSOCK32.dll.

Unfortunately there appears to be a Zeroaccess rootkit here.. this means we have to move and start a new topic.
We need a deeper look. Please go here....
Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9,which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If Gmer won't run, skip it and move on.
Include a link back to this topic.

Let me know if that went well
