Seems like whenver I boot this computer up from sleep mode, it starts doing something that takes up a chunk of bandwidth. Can someone help me identify what is slowing down my Internet so much?

Not much to be said for this, start closing things one by one until the bandwidth usage is dropped. If you close everything you know is running check to see if windows is downloading updates, and run a virus scan.
