I need to be able to access my company's FTP server through IE. It is accessible through firefox, opera, and google chrome, so it must be something to do with IE. I have reset the FTP options in the internet options menu. I have tried doing only FTP folder view, and then only passive, and neither of them have worked. Our customers use IE and they need to be able to access the updates. Any ideas?

I figured out how to access the FTP site.

Internet Explorer 9

  • Open ftp://ftp.mysite.biz
  • Right-click on the area above the address and select Menu bar from the dropdown
  • Click on the View button near the top left of the window
  • Select Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer
  • This will open a new Explorer window
  • If a warning comes up, ignore it and just click OK
  • In the blank area, right click and select Login As...
  • Enter the login information provided and then click Log On
