Hello,

I had the system security 2012 virus and had someone here help me get rid of it. They suggested I post in this forum since windows is still blocking some start up programs from running. I downloaded startuplite and it only found two of the programs. All of the programs are legit files, but the only choice I have in windows defender is to remove it.

These are a few of the programs it's blocking on post #35:

Thanks for your help!

Hi :).

I read through some of your posts, but not all...so, forgive me if I ask questions that seem redundant.

You assert that "Windows" is blocking start-up programs....have you an error message that says that this is taking place? If so, can you post one such?

Then...

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx

No installation required.

Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.

Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.

You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

Attach the file to your next reply.

Hi Louis,

Yes I'm getting an error message on the lower right taskbar that says, windows has blocked programs from starting, then when I click on it it takes me to the software explorer in windows defender. The message doesn't always pop-up in the taskbar, but there's a space where it usually is(this happens with my volume sometimes too), and even if it's not there if I open windows defender and go to the software explorer it's there.

I attached the file.

Thanks,
Beth

Take a look at http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to-disable-remove-and-uninstall-windows-defender-in-vista/ .

IMO, Windows Defender has not proven to be the application Microsoft wanted it to be...which explains why installing/using Microsoft Secuerity Essentials...diables it.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/protect_start/windows-defender-and-microsoft-security-essentials/5309cb8d-02e1-40e8-974f-0dcedb9ab9fd

A better partner for your installed AV (IMO) would be SUPERAntiSpyware.com - AntiAdware, AntiSpyware, AntiMalware! - http://www.superantispyware.com/ .

There are any number of better startup managers...I prefer Autoruns, but others include:
Starter (for Startups) - http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/Starter.shtml
Startup Control Panel - http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
Startup Inspector for Windows - http://www.windowsstartup.com/

Ok, I disabled it. So should I download the super anti spyware in addition to the avira I already have or do I have to uninstall that? Also, since I already installed the autorun, should I just keep it?

I can tell you this...I run Avira Free with Windows firewall and have SAS installed. I don't have a malware problems and have never had one on any of my systems. I have worked on the systems of friends who had malware...but that's second-hand, safe educatuib fir ne,,,and they get working systems back :).

I also keep Autoruns installed...because I like to check it every now and then after I've installed different programs...and I disable everything that is not essential that appears on the Logon tab of Autoruns and is not related to Microsoft, Java, some Adobe player, my AV, and SAS. None of those other programs on my system...need to run until I open them.

I do let audio and video function software remain as startups also.

Ok, thanks. Do you know what these two are?

DLCJCATS Timer DLL c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\dlcjtime.dll

rdpclip File not found: rdpclip

I disabled things, but there's no save button or anything, so does it automatically do it? Do I need to set preferences to run on start up or something? Thanks.
