What specific inspiron model? Were you able to find a windows 7 audio driver or from windows generic driver? What is the exact windows audio error?

Hi cutefairy,

Here is one possible solution...

Check that windows audio is started in services..

Click Start, type services.msc in the search bar and click enter..scroll down the list to Windows Audio Service..If it is stopped, start it..If it is started, stop it then restart it..Check that the setting is set to automatic.
