I am continually having BSOD on my old p4 machine. I have installed BlueScreenView and SIW, and have come up with quite a few error codes and an above average cpu temp (I think). I was hoping to get your take.

Hi goetz and Welcome -
The BSODs are well spread out (usually good) so there seems to be no major problem yet.
Your CPU temps are a bit high.
Can you remember the last time you opened the computer and cleaned it for dust etc. Be careful and try this with a brush and very low pressure air.
I know it shows the fans operating, but you may need to clean dust etc out of their filters also.

A first place to start, then please post back.

Thank You -

<<Bug Check Code : 0x00000024>>

Can indicate a problem with the ntfs.sys file...can indicate a problem with the partition structure...could also be the result of a hard drive with problems.

From http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.htm

0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
A problem occurred within NTFS.SYS, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives. There may be a physical problem with the disk, or an Interrupt Request Packet (IRP) may be corrupted. Other common causes include heavy hard drive fragmentation, heavy file I/O, problems with some types of drive-mirroring software, or some antivirus software. I suggest running ChkDsk or ScanDisk as a first step; then disable all file system filters such as virus scanners, firewall software, or backup utilities. Check the file properties of NTFS.SYS to ensure it matches the current OS or SP version. Update all disk, tape backup, CD-ROM, or removable device drivers to the most current versions.

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/110317-stop-error-24-ntfs-error.html

I would start with...moving any valued data files to another drive/media...then try chkdsk /r (partition/file system problems may prevent it from running properly...then run the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic on the drive, if all has gone well up to that point.

Louis
