Hello everyone, Here I am posting on those forums requesting for some help after a stupid Installation of a virus pack lol.

A good chance I Had AntiVir personnal Running and blocking most of viruses that were spreading at spead of light in this computer under the process name of Run.exe

The process seemed to scan my entire Drive in search of possible infection files. After the 64th blocked Virus, AntiVir asked me to Update Which I did but was not able to complete the installation of the update which resulted in a major lockdown of the computer. I had to manually Reboot the computer.

From now on, I'm getting extremelly weird process lockups without any CPU usage or oversized memory laps. Every 5-6 Secs, i'm getting a lockup of processes where I can't even right-click on icons or something.

What i've found is that smss.exe has been added to Msconfig startup list which is, of course, something bad. i've disabled this thing and deleted it from \Windows\ folder. smss.exe in my processes list is only 96 ko but keeps running.

-Running Windows XP Media Center Edition
- AntiVir Antivirus
- Ewido Anti-malware
- Spybots Search and Destroy

Here are my hijackthis logs :

C:\windows\System32\smss.exe is totally valid

Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find this exact name

Windows Logon Process Service

Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. File-Exit the Services utility.
