Windows XP Professional running...

This morning when I booted my computer, my wallpaper had vanished. Icons against a black field. I did a search and the bitmap, Bliss.bmp (a standard Windows wallpaper file) was no longer on my hard drive. The WindowsXP wallpaper seems to be gone as well.

Caught this be the first telltale sign that I've been infected?

Okay, that worked. Got Bliss and WindowXP wallpapers back. Thanks.

But what caused them to vanish in the first place? Was it a hack of some kind, or is this a common WinXP hiccup?

If your computer is not infected, most likely just a hiccup.
