Hey there,

Usually I can just read through other people's post and find a solution that way. This is not the case.
I have a sony laptop running windows xp pro 32bit.
It had the virus which hides all the personal files, desktop items and did a few other things.
So far I removed over 400 infections with various removal tools.
I got stubbed on this one virus which randomly opens up IE in the background and plays audio files. These range from commercials, talk shows, music and whatnot.
I decided to run combo fix to try and fix the issue. However, it does not seem to be moving past the line "However, scan time...easily double". I cannot click on anything else, nor can I get task manager up.

Please help and give me any suggestions.
Thank you

Hello having run ComboFix we need to see that and a DDS log.

Please go here....
Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
Skip the GMER step and instead post the ComboFix log you have.

Let me know if that went well.

The computer did not respond for several hours so I went ahead and shut it off. I restarted the combofix again, but still it stalled out. So the combofix never got completed.
Do you have another idea of what to try?

You were not asked to run ComboFix.??

Please see this from the Blue text above this forum.
ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer
