Hi all fellow sufferers. I have recently had to do a repair-installation on Windows XP Home. THe SP1 I did have installed before that seems to have disappeared.

ANy ideas how to check?

I have since tried reinstalling SP, from the cd-rom - it stuffed most of my computer up, ie drivers disappeared etc...
I also tried installing SP, which hung...

ANy ideas most welcome and thanks David.

So you booted with the xp cd and had it repair? Then you definitely need to update SP1/2 and download and install all your drivers over again
