dell laptop battery problem

Dell studio 15 battery charging stops at 40% automatically.. From last 15days

You may need to call Dell, but there may be a set of steps to "reset" the system's detection of the battery's charge.

If not, it oculd be that the battery's lifespan is near its end.

Go into the Bios (Setup) by pressing F2 when the Dell logo appears at power on and look at the battery health that will be reported there.

It should show something such as "The battery is performing properly" Or "The battery is reaching the end of its life" it should also show the proper power adapter detected. If it isn't detecting the proper adapter it will not charge right either.

It should be there. Usually under General in the setup.

It may say No battery if the battery has completely failed and it identify the AS Adapter or it may say unknown if it can't recognize the adapter. But all the newer laptops from XP days on have this feature.
