Simply put. My wireless adapter can see the network, it says it is connected to the network. However every time I open IE or firefox it says that it can't connect in both of them respectively. When I open the XP wireless symbol on the bottom right hand corner of the destop (computer icon with the curved lines) It tells me that it is connected. I run a repair and it fails at connecting to wireless network. I open the window that shows all the types of connections and the icon for the wireless adapter says it is enabled, but has a red x through it. I know the network is fine because I can use the other computers with out a problem and xbox. Any ideas or things I should look at is great help. This started when my computer was shut down unexpectedly (stupid brownout).

Check device manager for status of the network device for any flags or mark. Reinstalling the driver would also help.
