Mods, if this is the wrong place, feel free to move it.

Okay, so my question is; is X10 software legitimate, I am looking to install it to be able to control the lights in my house from the computer, and I need to know if it can be trusted enough to use on a new (custom, see "building new custom computer")PC or not.

I am using a poll for easy access

Thanks,
Mr.Ninja

The X10 protocol has been around for more than 30 years. It is an industry standard format for home automation.
