Hi, I'm new here...

Am I only allowed to make one copy of my Recovery partition?

I have a Dell desktop, with a built in Dell recovery partition...

I have read that.. "You are only allowed to make ONE copy of your Recovery partition
and it must be on to ROM CDs or DVDs."

I didn't know that when I made a copy of C and recovery partition to my external drive,
I am a bit concered that I can only do this once... Is that strictly true? For example
if I reinstalled windows 7 (I have the disks), would I have another opportunity to make
a copy of the recovery partition? Say to DVDs or a hidden partition?

Thanks,

At one time, the utility that came with a computer would only allow you to make one set of Recovery DVDs and then that utility "disappeared". I was surprised to find that my Acer will allow me to make as many copies as I wish, so it's possible that the one time only shot is a thing of the past. Perhaps they changed it because on occasion a bad DVD would mess up the creation of the disks and they received complaints about it.

<<Am I only allowed to make one copy of my Recovery partition?>>

The topic is about a recovery/restore partition...which some recovery/restore mechanisms need in order to operate.

This is not the same as recovery/restore disks...which may or may not depend upon a recovery partition.

Some systems need one or the other...some systems need both.
