I have a relatively old computer with almost all of the parts upgraded. Right now i am trying to upgrade my cpu from an Intel Pentium D 915 2.8 Ghz(socket 775) to an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8400 LGA775. The motherboard is a Gigabyte G41M-ES2L.

When i take out the old one and put in the new one the computer starts up and then freezes at the first screen, which shows the specs of the computer. I dont know what is stopping the progress. I made sure the fan was attached properly and the thermal paste was applied but it never makes it to the loading windows phase. i also am unable to use any of the key functions during start up.

Ram: DDR2 4gb
Windows 7
BIOS: version F4 7/22/2009

To run the Q8400 processor, you need to upgrade your BIOS to F6.
